Amsterdam Buildings

The buildings in Amsterdam are positioned along the canals... as the land along the canals is precious and as boats traditionally were the main way of getting around for people and materials ... the buildings are very narrow but deep and high... as well canal front was so valuable that the houses have no space between them... any extra space is in the back of the buildings where you can find gardens and green space... one servant once commented that he would be happy to have a house the width of the front doors of his masters house... so the man built it for him....
