Avebury Rocks

These rocks at Avebury form a huge circle much larger than Stonehenge. There is a definate sense of the hard work that the pre-historic peoples were willing to create monuments to their ancient faith... Made of simple large rocks laid out on a grid to mark solar and lunar events it made me feel connected to the earth and the cycles of nature and the power of God...a sense that the churchs have been trying to replicate with their monumental churches... maybe that is why the Church had all the avebury stones all pushed over and buried in the 13 th century to lay hidden for several centuries till it was rediscovered and partly erected....
